Job summary

PRR Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a Midrand-based permanent role in a leading defence and mobility engineering organisation. You will own full product‑life‑cycle design, development, prototyping, testing and support of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Degree/N‑Dip/B‑Tech in Mechanical or Design Engineering.
• 5–7 years Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
• Experience in military vehicle design advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Concept design, calculations, layouts, and FEA evaluation.
• Create solid models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Ensure correct drawing standards and technical integrity.
• Support prototype build, testing, and design improvements.
• Communicate with manufacturing and subcontractors during development.
• Manage subsystem design, documentation, and project targets.
• Attend internal and client design reviews.
• Provide production, procurement, and logistics support.
