Boardroom Appointments in Sandton, Gauteng, seeks a Senior Product Design Engineer to lead product development, combining mechanical expertise with market insight to conceptualize, design, and launch innovative products.

You will own the full design lifecycle, create 3D models and drawings, validate designs via FEA/CFD and prototyping, select materials, and mentor junior engineers in a dynamic, globally connected team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in product design and development with a strong portfolio.
• Expertise in CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks Premium).
• Proficiency in simulation tools (FEA, CFD) and rapid prototyping technologies.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the entire product design lifecycle from concept to final production release.
• Develop detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and prototypes for new designs.
• Conduct design validation through FEA, CFD, and physical testing.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes for performance and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with marketing and sales to translate market needs into features.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster innovation within the team.
