Job summary

Barloworld Equipment (Pty) Ltd in South Africa seeks an assistant mechanic to support maintenance and repair tasks on machines and components.

The role requires using appropriate tools, lifting up to 20 kg or using lifting gear, and maintaining a clean, safe workplace while assisting artisans with parts and material readiness.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completed.
• Certification to operate forklift within 90 days.
• Certification to operate overhead / job crane within 90 days.
• Ability to follow instructions under supervision.
• Driver's license – Code B will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist the mechanic(s) in performing maintenance and repair work on machines and / or components.
• Know which tools are used for which jobs and ensure the mechanic / technician has them within reach.
• Physically lift, keep in place and / or move up to 20kg or use appropriate lifting and slinging equipment for objects larger in size
• Clean and maintain facilities and equipment
• Assist artisan to obtain and check parts for particular jobs
• Maintain a safe and orderly workplace
