Job summary

Barloworld Equipment is seeking a skilled technician to service and repair Caterpillar earthmoving equipment both on customer sites and at Barloworld sites. You will perform inspections, troubleshooting, and final reporting to customers, upholding OEM quality and contamination control standards.

The role requires a Red Seal or trade qualification with at least five years of post-qualification Caterpillar experience, strong diagnostic skills, and good communication to maintain professional

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Red Seal or trade qualification in Earthmoving Equipment or Diesel Mechanic preferred.
• Minimum of five years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine-specific technical knowledge of Caterpillar equipment systems.
• Ability to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Strong report-writing and communication skills.
• Basic business and financial understanding; computer literacy (SIS, STW, ET).

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs on Caterpillar earthmoving equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out machine inspections and technical analyses with accurate reports and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and perform repairs to maximize uptime.
• Maintain professional image whilst representing Barloworld Equipment.
• Maintain contamination control standards and comply with OEM quality standards.
• Manage own admin: labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses.
• Ensure safe work practices and adherence to quality and productivity standards.

Job description

Key Outputs

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out Machine Inspections and technical analysis (TA’s) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
• Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
• Maintain and work according to BWE contamination standards
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Ensure safe work practice

Qualification, Experience And Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12
• Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Good technical report writing,
• Basic business and financial understanding
• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW and ET) knowledge
• Good trouble shooting and problem-solving skills,
