Job summary

Groupe CFAO is seeking two Field Service Technicians to service and repair electric and IC powered material handling equipment, including reach stackers and forklifts, from 2 to 32 tons. Roles involve fault finding, on-site and in-house maintenance, and maintaining service records.

Ideal candidates are qualified diesel/petrol mechanics with forklift experience, strong English communication, and a track record in heavy lift equipment. Commitment to safety and customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic with forklift or similar material handling experience.
• Forklift mechanic with heavy lift equipment knowledge.
• General auto electrical knowledge (ignition, starting, charging, illumination).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy lift equipment preferred.
• Strong English communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair electric and IC powered material handling equipment (reach stackers, empty container handlers, forklifts 2–32t).
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on-site or in-house with accurate records.
• Provide repair quotations and communicate needs with workshop foremen.
• Maintain vehicle/component maintenance data and OHSACT/ASEC compliance.
• Ensure safe work environment and proper safety device operations.

The purpose of this position is to maintain, service and repair all Electric and IC powered material handling equipment namely Reach Stackers, Empty Container Handlers and Forklifts from 2ton to 32ton capacity. Carry out fault finding and repair, either on site or in-house, in a timely and cost-effective manner so that customer and company requirements are met. Maintaining of vehicle repair records and all associated tasks.

Key Performance Areas:
(Essential Duties & Responsibilities)

Servicing of material handling equipment

Maintaining forklift servicing to specified standards and according to set procedures by delivering quality service / maintenance.

Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting of breakdown on equipment.

Communicate what repairs are needed by advising the designated workshop foremen as well as raising repair quotations/costs of repairs.

Maintaining of vehicle/component maintenance/repairs and operational data.

Updating and timeously communicating information that must go on record.

Ensure proper communication between self, manager and other staff.

Ensure OHSACT & ASEC requirements are met in all actions on company premises.

Maintain a safe work environment by verifying safety device operations, following standards and procedures and in general complying with legal regulation.

Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities Critical checks – FMX Reports, Speed settings, MSWL, Servicing as per agreement

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills Education / Training and Experience Requirement(s):

Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment.

Qualified Forklift Mechanic with Heavy lift Equipment knowledge.

General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition, starting, charging, illumination)

Excellent work ethic – honest, reliable, hardworking, dedicated and takes pride in work carried out.

Highly developed prioritising and multi-tasking skills; strong sense of urgency; problem solving and decision-making skills.

Preferably 5 years’ experience in Heavy lift Equipment.
