Job summary

Barloworld Equipment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a diligent maintenance support assistant to aid mechanics in performing moderate to complex tasks on machines and components. You will ensure the right tools are available and within reach for each job, helping the team work efficiently.

You will also assist with lifting and moving items up to 20 kg, maintain a clean and safe workspace, and help verify parts for specific jobs while following supervisor instructions.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain forklift operator certification within 90 days.
• Must be able to obtain overhead/jib crane operator certification within 90 days.
• Grade 12 education required.
• Ability to follow instructions under supervision.
• Driver's license – Code B advantageous.
• Relevant prior work experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics in maintenance and repair work on machines and components.

Job description

Key Outputs

• Assist the mechanic(s) in performing moderate to complex maintenance and repair work on machines and / or components
• Know which tools are used for which jobs and ensure the mechanic / technician has them within reach
• Physically lift, keep in place and / or move up to 20kg or use appropriate lifting and slinging equipment for objects larger in size
• Clean and maintain facilities and equipment
• Assist artisan to obtain and check parts for particular jobs
• Maintain a safe and orderly workplace

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Grade12
• Relevant previous work experience advantageous
• Ability to obtain certification as forklift operator within 90 days of appointment
• Ability to obtain certification as overhead / jib crane operator within 90 days of appointment
• Ability to follow instructions under supervision
• Drivers licence – Code B will be an added advantage
