Job summary

Barloworld Equipment seeks an experienced Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic to service CAT machines on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites. You will perform disassembly, inspection and assembly, and compile reports with recommendations to customers.

The role demands a trade qualification with Red Seal, at least five years post-qualification CAT experience, strong reporting, and solid fault-finding skills.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 and trade qualification with Red Seal in earthmoving equipment or diesel mechanics.
• Minimum of five years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment systems and schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good technical report writing.
• Basic business and financial understanding.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems and contamination control principles.
• Driver's licence – Code B.
• Understanding of supplier warranty systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs on Caterpillar earthmoving equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out machine inspections and technical analyses on machines or components, compiling accurate reports with recommendations to customers.
• Efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment.
• Maintain and work according to BWE contamination standards.
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.).
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.
• Ensure safe work practice.

Qualification, Experience And Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12, Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills

• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW and ET) knowledge
