Job summary

Barloworld Equipment is seeking a skilled Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic to service, maintain and repair Caterpillar machines on client sites or at Barloworld sites. You will inspect machines, perform technical analyses and provide actionable recommendations to customers.

The role requires a red seal trade qualification, at least five years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar equipment, and strong diagnostic, reporting and communication skills. A valid B-class license is needed.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• Red Seal or equivalent trade qualification in Earthmoving Equipment or Diesel.
• Minimum five years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Sound understanding of Caterpillar equipment systems and schematics.
• Ability to read Caterpillar schematics.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Valid code B driver's license.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems and contamination control principles.
• Experience with supplier warranty processes.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA's) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
• Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
• Maintain and work according to BWE Contamination Standards
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12
• Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
