Job summary

Barloworld Equipment is seeking a skilled Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic to service and repair CAT machines at customer or company sites in the Western Cape. You will inspect, diagnose and repair components, and compile accurate reports for customers.

The role requires a trade qualification, a minimum of five years with Caterpillar equipment, and ability to read schematics. You will work to ISO quality and contamination control standards while maintaining safety and professional image.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 required with a relevant trade qualification (red seal preferred).
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Ability to read Caterpillar schematics and operate diagnostic tools.
• Good communication and reporting skills are essential.
• Proficient in using SIS, STW and ET systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance and repairs on Earthmoving Equipment at customer or Barloworld sites.
• Perform machine inspections and technical analysis with clear recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to maximise uptime.
• Maintain ISO quality standards and contamination control principles.
• Manage own admin including labour bookings and service reports.

Job description

Key Outputs

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA's) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
• Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
• Maintain and work according to BWE Contamination Standards
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Ensure safe work practice

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12, Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
