Job summary

Barloworld Equipment (Pty) Ltd is seeking a qualified earthmoving equipment mechanic to perform scheduled services, diagnostics, and repairs at customer sites or Barloworld locations. You will inspect machines, generate technical reports, and provide recommendations to customers to maximise uptime.

The role requires a Red Seal qualification with at least five years of post-qualification Caterpillar experience, plus strong troubleshooting, reporting, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 and a relevant trade with Red Seal.
• Minimum of five years post-qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Ability to read Caterpillar schematics and understand equipment systems.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out machine inspections and technical analysis with recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and perform repairs for optimal utilization.
• Maintain professional image and conform to contamination and ISO quality standards.
• Control own admin including service reports, parts returns, and expenses.
• Ensure safe work practices and quality standards are met.

Job description

Key Outputs

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA's) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
• Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
• Maintain and work according to BWE Contamination Standards
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Ensure safe work practice

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12, Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills

• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW and ET) knowledge
