Job summary

Barloworld Equipment (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic to perform scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on CAT machines at customer sites or Barloworld sites.

You will inspect machines, compile accurate reports with recommendations, diagnose faults, and ensure repairs uphold OEM quality standards. A strong track record on Caterpillar systems and safe work practices is essential.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 with relevant trade and Red Seal certification.
• Post-qualification Caterpillar experience is essential.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment systems and schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret Caterpillar schematics.
• Good communication and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance and repairs on CAT equipment at customer sites or Barloworld sites.
• Conduct machine inspections and technical analyses, compiling reports with recommendations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machine systems and perform repairs for optimal uptime.
• Maintain professional image and adhere to contamination standards.
• Manage admin tasks: labour bookings, service reports, parts returns, expenses.
• Ensure safety, quality and productivity standards are consistently met.

Job description

Key Outputs

• Carry out scheduled services, maintenance, and repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) on Earthmoving Equipment on customer sites or at Barloworld Equipment sites.
• Carry out Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA’s) on machines or components, compile accurate reports with recommendations to the customers.
• Efficiently trouble shoot and diagnose machine systems and carry out repairs to ensure optimal utilization and availability of machines.
• Maintain professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment
• Maintain and work according to BWE Contamination Standards
• Ensure that the ultimate quality standards are maintained on the work performed according to OEM standards.
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Ensure safe work practice

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

• Matric/ Grade 12, Qualified in relevant trade, red seal (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic/ Diesel Mechanic)
• Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience on Caterpillar machines.
• Machine specific technical knowledge and skills on Caterpillar Equipment systems.
• Good understanding of operation systems on Caterpillar equipment.
• Must be able to read and understand Caterpillar equipment system schematics.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Good technical report writing
• Basic business and financial understanding
• Computer Literacy (SIS, STW and ET) knowledge
• Good trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
• Applicable product knowledge
• Drivers licence – Code B
