Placements24 is seeking a skilled Materials Engineer to join our laboratory and site services team in Upington, Northern Cape. You will plan and execute testing programs, analyze results, and provide technical recommendations to clients and project teams.

A strong background in testing methodologies and industry standards is essential for ensuring quality and durability of construction materials. The role requires 5+ years in materials engineering, with preference for Pr Eng registration, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in materials engineering, especially construction materials testing and QA.
• Strong knowledge of material properties and testing methodologies.
• Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee materials testing activities for construction projects (concrete, asphalt, soil, steel).
• Conduct laboratory and field tests to assess material properties and performance.
• Interpret test results and prepare technical reports with recommendations.
• Ensure testing activities comply with SANS and project specs.
• Collaborate with site engineers, contractors and clients on material issues.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment.
• Provide technical guidance on material selection and QA.
• Help develop material specifications and QA plans.
• Troubleshoot material failures and recommend corrective actions.
