Placements24 is seeking a qualified Materials Engineer to join our Upington laboratory and field services team. You will plan and oversee testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt, interpreting results and providing recommendations on material suitability and compliance.

The role requires a strong background in materials science, soil mechanics, and construction materials testing protocols, with a valid driver’s license for site visits in the Northern Cape. Upington-based position.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction materials engineering and testing.
• Familiarity with SANS standards and testing protocols.
• ECSA registration preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Plan, schedule, and supervise laboratory and field testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
• Interpret test results and prepare comprehensive materials reports, including recommendations for material acceptance or rejection.
• Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with SANS standards and project specifications.
• Conduct site investigations to assess material suitability and troubleshoot material-related issues.
• Provide technical guidance on material selection, application, and quality control to project teams.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration procedures are followed.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and project engineers to discuss testing requirements and findings.
• Develop and implement quality assurance plans for construction materials.
• Stay updated on advancements in construction materials technology and testing methods.
• Assist in the development of new testing services and procedures.
