Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Engineering Lead in Port Elizabeth. The role combines on-site leadership with strategic planning to maximise uptime of automotive production equipment.

You will lead a maintenance team, implement preventive programs, manage budgets, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance strategies. A strong mechanical or electrical engineering background is required along with experience in industrial maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years in industrial maintenance.
• 3+ years in a supervisory/lead role.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the plant's maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Maintain plant machinery to high standards, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
• Oversee reactive maintenance to ensure rapid repair of breakdowns.
• Manage the maintenance budget and optimize resource allocation.
• Source and manage spare parts inventory for availability.
• Adopt new maintenance technologies to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure safety and environmental regulatory compliance in maintenance.
• Collaborate with production and engineering on upgrades and new installations.
