Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our automotive client in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on design, development, and testing of powertrain systems, combining hands-on work with collaborative CAD modeling in CATIA/SolidWorks.

You will lead mechanical design, perform FEA/CFD analyses, mentor junior engineers, and manage projects from concept to production in a hybrid work setup that balances in-office collaboration with remote tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related automotive field.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and development within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency with CAD tools CATIA/SolidWorks and simulation tools ANSYS/STAR-CCM+.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science and manufacturing processes for automotive components.
• Ability to manage complex engineering projects and work well in a Hybrid team environment.

Responsabilités

• Lead the mechanical design and development of powertrain components, including engines and transmissions.
• Use CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and manufacturing drawings.
• Conduct FEA/CFD analyses and durability testing to ensure performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and test teams to integrate mechanical designs into vehicle architecture.
• Develop and execute test plans for components and systems; analyze results and implement improvements.
• Manage projects from concept to production, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.
