They are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Engineering Lead to join their team in Port Elizabeth . This hybrid role involves leading the maintenance department, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability of all production machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, managing maintenance budgets, leading a team of technicians, and driving continuous improvement in maintenance strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering, coupled with significant experience in industrial maintenance, particularly in an automotive manufacturing setting. This role requires a balance of on-site leadership and strategic planning that may be conducted remotely. Proximity to Port Elizabeth is essential for on-site responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the plant's maintenance team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure all plant machinery and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
• Oversee reactive maintenance activities, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of breakdowns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Proven experience in the automotive manufacturing sector is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and effectively lead a team.
• Understanding of EHS regulations within a manufacturing environment.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid model, with significant on-site presence required in Port Elizabeth .
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
