Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Engineer in Vereeniging, Gauteng, to lead planning and execution of maintenance across plant machinery. The role blends on-site leadership with strategic remote planning to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical or electrical engineering degree, 5+ years of plant maintenance experience, and strong PLC/industrial automation expertise. A hands-on, proactive approach is essential for safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years in plant maintenance.
Experience with PLCs and industrial automation.
Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance.
Willingness to work on-site in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for plant machinery and equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on production lines.
Oversee installation and commissioning of new machinery.
Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical component availability.
Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and policies.
Supervise maintenance technicians and provide technical guidance.
Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruption.
Maintain records of maintenance history and costs.
Contribute to continuous improvement for equipment reliability.
