Placements24 is seeking an experienced Specialized Machinery Maintenance Engineer to join our Polokwane facility. The role focuses on upkeep, troubleshooting, and optimization of complex production machinery to maximize uptime and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with a track record in diagnosing intricate issues and leading technical initiatives while upholding safety and continuous improvement standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related field.
• 6+ years in maintenance engineering with specialized machinery.
• Proven troubleshooting of complex automated systems.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and schematics.
• Experience with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to relocate to Polokwane, Limpopo; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth diagnostics and repairs on specialized machinery (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Analyze performance data to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot faults in automation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs).
• Collaborate with engineering and production to improve reliability.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints for maintenance.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure maintenance complies with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement recommendations.
• Document maintenance actions, findings, and recommendations.
