Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to maintain complex electrical systems and automated machinery. The role combines on-site upkeep with remote planning and analysis, reflecting a hybrid work model.

You will diagnose faults, implement preventive maintenance, read schematics, support safety standards, and collaborate with production to minimize downtime while driving energy efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Diploma with relevant experience.
• ECSA registration or eligibility strongly preferred.
• 5+ years in electrical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, control systems, PLCs, and VSDs.
• Reading/interpretation of schematics and control diagrams proficient.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical equipment including motors and panels.
• Create and manage preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
• Troubleshoot faults and malfunctions promptly and efficiently.
• Interpret electrical schematics and manuals to guide work.
• Ensure maintenance complies with safety standards (OHS Act) and policies.
• Collaborate with production and support teams for electrical needs.
• Install, commission, and test new electrical equipment/control systems.
• Maintain records of maintenance, spare parts, and equipment history.
• Identify energy-efficiency upgrades for electrical systems.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
