Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a passionate Junior Chef to join a luxury lodge in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. This role offers a live-in package with accommodation, a monthly salary, and a chance to learn from an experienced culinary team.

The ideal candidate will have or be willing to acquire a formal culinary qualification and a strong interest in hospitality. You will assist with meal preparation across all services and help maintain high hygiene standards in a high-end setting.

Qualifications

• Formal culinary qualification preferred.
• Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment advantageous.
• Passion for food and hospitality.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Good understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals in line with lodge standards.
• Ensure consistency, quality, and attention to detail in all dishes served.
• Support senior chefs with daily kitchen operations and service requirements.
• Assist with mise en place and food preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
• Assist with stock control, stock rotation, and ingredient management.
• Minimise wastage and ensure efficient use of food supplies.
• Ensure kitchen equipment and workstations are clean and maintained.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to deliver exceptional guest dining experiences.
• Follow recipes, procedures, and presentation standards consistently.
