Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join a luxury safari lodge in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal. This live‑in role suits a hands‑on culinary professional with luxury lodge or 5‑star experience, eager to deliver refined dining in a remote safari setting.

You will assist the Head Chef, mentor staff, contribute to seasonal menus, and ensure top hygiene and service standards in a high‑end guest environment.

Formación

• Relevant culinary qualification.
• Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a luxury lodge, hotel, or 5-star environment.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations.
• Excellent understanding of food hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Passionate about creativity, quality, and exceptional guest experiences.
• Willingness to live and work in a remote lodge environment.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations.
• Prepare and present high-quality dishes in line with luxury lodge standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
• Contribute to menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
• Monitor inventory, manage stock, and control food costs.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety regulations.
• Support the Head Chef in maintaining organisation, efficiency, and high standards of service.
• Assist with food preparation for à la carte, buffet, and special events.
