The ideal candidate is an admitted attorney with at least five years’ experience in SA employment law, and a proven track record in CCMA and Bargaining Council proceedings, ensuring a fair, compliant workplace.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with at least 5 years' experience in Employment Law.
• Extensive knowledge of South African labor legislation and case law.
• Experience advising on CCMA and Bargaining Council proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on all aspects of employment law, including contracts and terminations.
• Draft and update employment contracts and HR policies.
• Represent the company in CCMA, bargaining councils, and labor courts.
• Ensure compliance with BCEA, LRA, EEA and other labor laws.
• Conduct internal investigations and guide on grievances and disputes.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Legal Advisor with expertise in Employment Law to join their dedicated legal team in Port Elizabeth . This role is critical in ensuring the company navigates the complexities of labor legislation, manages employee relations effectively, and minimizes employment-related risks. You will provide strategic advice to HR and management on all aspects of the employment lifecycle, from recruitment to termination, and represent the company in labor disputes. The successful candidate will be passionate about employment law and committed to fostering a fair and compliant workplace culture, working full-time from our Port Elizabeth offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of employment law, including contracts, policies, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, HR policies, and procedures.
• Represent the company in the CCMA, bargaining councils, and relevant labor courts.
• Advise on compliance with the BCEA, LRA, EEA, and other relevant labor legislation.
• Conduct internal investigations and provide guidance on employee grievances and disputes.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with a minimum of 5 years' experience specializing in Employment Law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor legislation and case law.
• Proven experience in advising clients on employment disputes and CCMA/Bargaining Council proceedings.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Commitment to working on-site in Port Elizabeth .
