Job summary

Brightcitytalent is seeking an experienced Sugar Processing Subject Matter Expert to join the Malalane sugar and milling team, with a passion for training and development. This role is ideal for a production supervisor or superintendent ready to transition into Learning & Development, focusing on WSP, curriculum design, and competency-based training.

On site in Malelane, you will drive compliance with the Skills Development Act, assist HR with onboarding, and build a robust talent pipeline

Qualifications

• Must have strong background in the sugar industry.
• Minimum 5 years of technical production experience with supervisory exposure.
• Experience as Sugar Process Trainer or passion for upskilling in skills development is advantageous.
• Grade 12 and a relevant technical tertiary qualification.
• OD ETDP certification and Assessor/Moderator accreditation are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• L&D Strategy & Execution: Compile and oversee WSP implementation for Sugar Processing Teams.
• Training & Curriculum Design: Develop competency-based training, manuals, modules and deliver technical training interventions.
• Assessment & Compliance: Assess training, maintain skills matrices, ensure compliance with relevant acts.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Manage facilitators/service providers, support onboarding, build talent pipelines.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sugar Processing Subject Matter Expert with a passion for training and development to join the sugar and milling team in Malalane. This role is ideal for a production supervisor or superintendent ready to transition into or expand within the Learning & Development (L&D) space.

Key Responsibilities

• L&D Strategy & Execution: Compile, submit, and oversee the successful implementation of the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) for Sugar Processing Teams.

• Training & Curriculum Design: Conduct competency-based training needs analysis, design training manuals, online learning modules, and deliver technical training interventions.

• Assessment & Compliance: Assess/moderate training interventions, maintain skills matrices with line management, and ensure compliance with the Skills Development Act, SETA, BBBEE, and Income Tax Act.

• Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Supervise internal and external facilitators/service providers, support HR with onboarding, and drive talent pipeline development.

Key Requirements

• Must have a strong background within the Sugar Industry

• Minimum of 5 years of technical production experience, ideally having held a Supervisory or Superintendent (or higher) role in Sugar Production.

• Prior experience as a Sugar Process Trainer or a deep passion for training, coaching, and mentoring, ready to upskill in the skills development space will be advantageous

• Grade 12 / Matric and a relevant technical tertiary qualification.

• OD ETDP certification, Assessor/Moderator accreditation, and knowledge of AgriSETA/EWSETA will be distinct advantages.

This role will be based on site in Malelane.
