Placements24 is seeking a Lead Solar Project Developer to join a fully remote team supporting operations originating from George, Western Cape. You will identify, evaluate, and secure solar project opportunities, driving the development lifecycle from site assessment to grid connection agreements.

The role requires a strategic thinker with a solid renewable energy network and a track record of financing solar projects, negotiating PPAs, and managing multiple remote projects concurrently.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Solar Project Developer to join their fully remote team, supporting operations originating from George . In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new solar energy project opportunities. You will drive the entire development lifecycle, from initial site assessment and feasibility studies through to permitting and grid connection agreements. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong network in the renewable energy industry and a proven track record of successfully bringing solar projects to fruition. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve ambitious development targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new solar project development opportunities across various regions.
• Conduct detailed site assessments, feasibility studies, and financial analysis for potential projects.
• Negotiate and secure land leases, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other necessary contracts.
• Manage the permitting and interconnection processes with relevant authorities and utilities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, community stakeholders, and industry partners.
• Oversee the project pipeline, ensuring timely progress and successful project completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in renewable energy project development , with a focus on solar PV.
• Demonstrated success in developing and financing solar projects from concept to execution.
• Strong understanding of solar technology , project finance, and PPA structures.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting .
