Placements24 in Centurion seeks a highly experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to oversee all costs across complex construction projects. You will lead budgeting, cost control and procurement strategies to keep projects financially viable and on track.

This senior role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of contract administration (FIDIC/NEC) and a proven ability to drive value through detailed cost analysis, risk management and effective stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with leadership experience.
  • Proven expertise in cost management, contract negotiation and procurement.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and applicable legislation (FIDIC/NEC).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and value engineering.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and analytical Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Centurion . This senior role is responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations and estimates to final accounts. You will play a critical role in advising on procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that projects remain financially viable and meet budgetary targets. This is a leadership position requiring a deep understanding of construction economics and the ability to provide expert financial guidance throughout the project lifecycle, contributing significantly to project profitability and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Undertake detailed cost analysis and value engineering to identify potential savings and efficiencies.
  • Manage contract administration, including the preparation of bills of quantities, tender documentation, and contract variations.
  • Negotiate with contractors and subcontractors to secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Assess and manage contractual claims and disputes, providing expert advice and resolution strategies.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven expertise in cost management , contract negotiation, and procurement within the construction sector.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC) and relevant legislation.
  • Professional qualification such as RICS or equivalent, and a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
