Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal to oversee heavy equipment maintenance and repairs. You will lead a skilled team, plan preventive programs, and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues to maximize equipment availability and safety.

The role requires a trade qualification in heavy equipment mechanics, at least 5 years of supervisory experience in mining or construction, and strong knowledge of hydraulics, powertrains, and electrical

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required in heavy equipment mechanics.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in mining or construction.
• Experience with hydraulics, powertrains and electrical systems.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities.
• Familiarity with safety standards in mining environments and CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of mechanics and technicians responsible for maintenance of heavy mining equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety policies and industry regulations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training for the team.
• Maintain maintenance records and generate reports on equipment status and costs.
• Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Promote safety culture in the workshop and on site.
