Placements24 in Upington is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment. You will lead a team of technicians, manage preventive maintenance schedules, and ensure safety and efficiency across the fleet.

The ideal candidate has a technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology, 5+ years in heavy equipment maintenance with at least 2 years in supervision, and strong knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical

Qualifications

• Requires technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years in heavy equipment maintenance with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in mining, construction, or heavy industry sectors.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems and electrical systems used in heavy equipment.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and maintenance software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of heavy equipment mechanics and technicians.
• Develop, implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for all heavy machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on mining equipment.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards and company policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for maintenance supplies.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and prepare reports on equipment performance and repair costs.
• Train and mentor maintenance staff and promote best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance operations in Upington.
