Placements24 is seeking a Lead Logistics Coordinator for a fully remote position based in South Africa. You will lead a team, coordinate international and domestic shipments, manage carrier relationships, and ensure regulatory compliance and timely documentation.

The role requires 5+ years in freight/logistics with leadership experience, strong knowledge of TMS/ERP systems, and a focus on process improvement in a remote environment.

Responsabilidades

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding international freight forwarder, is seeking a highly organized and experienced Lead Logistics Coordinator to manage and optimize their global shipping operations. This is a critical, fully remote role based in South Africa, offering the chance to guide a team and ensure the seamless flow of goods across borders. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of logistics coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee the end-to-end coordination of international and domestic shipments, including air, sea, and road freight.
• Manage relationships with carriers, customs brokers, and other third-party logistics providers to negotiate rates and ensure service level agreements are met.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and import/export permits.
• Monitor shipment progress, proactively identify and resolve potential delays or issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Optimize routing and transportation methods to achieve cost savings and improve transit times.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics operations to enhance efficiency and consistency.
• Analyze logistics data to identify trends, measure performance against KPIs, and recommend strategic improvements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
• Assist in training new team members and continuously develop the skills of the existing logistics team.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, international logistics, or supply chain coordination, with at least 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping modes (air, sea, road), customs procedures, and trade regulations.
• Proven experience in managing carrier relationships and negotiating freight rates.
• Excellent understanding of logistics software and systems, including TMS and ERP.
• Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
