Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or related Earth Science field.

• Strong skills in structural and stratigraphic interpretation and petroleum systems.
• Experience with data integration and multidisciplinary workflows.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking energy company with significant operations in the region, is seeking a highly skilled Lead Geoscientist to spearhead subsurface interpretation and analysis in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. This role is pivotal in identifying and characterizing hydrocarbon resources, guiding exploration and development strategies through expert geological and geophysical interpretation. You will lead a team of geoscientists, leveraging advanced seismic data processing and interpretation techniques, integrated reservoir modeling, and data analytics to unlock subsurface potential. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in seismic data processing, structural and stratigraphic interpretation, and a deep understanding of petroleum systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to identify and evaluate exploration and development targets.
• Develop and refine subsurface geological and geophysical models.

Requirements

• Expert proficiency in industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
• Demonstrated experience in structural and stratigraphic interpretation, and petroleum systems analysis.
• Strong understanding of geophysical principles and data processing workflows.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with data integration and multidisciplinary workflows.
• Knowledge of the geological setting in Southern Africa is a plus.
