Placements24 seeks an accomplished Geophysicist specializing in seismic interpretation to join its exploration team in Port Elizabeth. You will analyze complex seismic datasets to identify prospective hydrocarbon plays and contribute critical insights to exploration strategies.

You will perform advanced data processing, interpret 2D/3D surveys, and develop integrated geological models. A strong analytical mindset and collaboration with geologists and engineers are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or related quantitative science.
• Minimum 6 years of geophysical interpretation experience, preferably in oil & gas.
• Proficiency with seismic interpretation software (Petrel, OpendTect, Landmark).
• Strong understanding of seismic data acquisition and processing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced seismic data processing and QC to enhance subsurface imaging.
• Interpret 2D/3D seismic datasets to identify structures and features.

This role is central to uncovering and evaluating potential energy reserves by analyzing complex seismic datasets. You will be responsible for advanced seismic data processing, interpretation, and mapping to identify prospective geological structures and contribute crucial insights to exploration strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset and a deep understanding of subsurface imaging techniques within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced seismic data processing and quality control to enhance subsurface imaging.
• Conduct detailed seismic interpretation of 2D and 3D datasets to identify geological structures, faults, and stratigraphic features.
• Develop and maintain geological models based on integrated seismic, well, and other subsurface data.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to characterize potential hydrocarbon plays and de-risk prospects.
• Generate clear and concise geophysical reports, maps, and presentations for technical and management reviews.
• Stay abreast of the latest seismic interpretation technologies and methodologies, and recommend their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements
