About the Role Our client, a forward-thinking exploration and production company, is seeking an exceptional Lead Geologist to spearhead their geological investigations in Centurion, Gauteng . This pivotal role is responsible for leading geological assessments, prospect generation, and subsurface characterization critical to the success of our client's exploration initiatives. You will be instrumental in identifying and evaluating new hydrocarbon resources, applying advanced geological principles and state-of-the-art technologies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in seismic interpretation, well correlation, and basin analysis, coupled with strong leadership capabilities to guide a team of geoscientists. This is a hands-on position within a collaborative environment, offering the chance to significantly influence strategic exploration decisions and contribute to the discovery of valuable energy reserves. Key Responsibilities

• Lead geological exploration activities, including prospect identification, evaluation, and risk assessment.
• Perform detailed seismic interpretation, data integration, and subsurface mapping.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in geological exploration, preferably within the Oil & Gulf industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Proven ability to integrate diverse geological and geophysical datasets.
• Experience with basin analysis and petroleum systems modeling.
• Excellence analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with South African geology is an advantage.
