Job summary

Placements24 represents a vibrant community-focused primary school in Polokwane, Limpopo, seeking an experienced Lead Foundation Phase Teacher for Grades R to 3. You will guide a team of Foundation Phase educators, contribute to curriculum development, and mentor junior teachers.

The role emphasizes leadership, strong communication with parents, and the delivery of engaging, CAPS-aligned lessons that support early literacy, numeracy, and holistic development of young learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed. Foundation Phase) or equivalent.
• Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years of teaching experience in the Foundation Phase.
• Proven leadership or mentoring experience within a school setting.
• In-depth knowledge of the South African CAPS Foundation Phase curriculum.
• Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and practices.
• Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in educational technology applications for early learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Foundation Phase teachers.
• Oversee planning and implementation of CAPS-aligned curriculum.
• Deliver engaging lessons focused on literacy, numeracy, and holistic development.
• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to learners and parents.
• Coordinate classroom activities including arts, music, and PE.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians.
• Support school policies and lead departmental meetings and PD.
