Job summary

Cape Town Primary School in Cape Town, Western Cape, is seeking an experienced Lead Foundation Phase Teacher to guide and nurture learners aged 5–8. The role emphasizes curriculum development, play-based learning, and building a positive school culture.

The successful candidate will mentor junior teachers, lead CAPS-aligned instruction, and collaborate with parents and staff to strengthen early literacy and numeracy while ensuring an engaging, inclusive classroom on-site in Cape Town.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education with Foundation Phase specialization and SACE registration.
• Minimum 7 years teaching Foundation Phase, with at least 3 in leadership or mentoring.
• Strong knowledge of CAPS Foundation Phase curriculum.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to inspire a team.
• Willingness to work on-site in Cape Town.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Foundation Phase curriculum implementation focusing on literacy, numeracy, and life skills.
• Develop and deliver play-based learning activities for young children.
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment supporting curiosity and social-emotional growth.
• Assess progress through observation and portfolios; provide feedback to parents.
• Mentor and support other Foundation Phase teachers; lead parent meetings and workshops.
• Participate in school initiatives and curriculum review meetings in Cape Town.
