Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Project Engineer to drive end-to-end electrical design for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind and storage. You will lead a remote-first engineering team, develop technical specifications, and ensure interconnection with grid operators and regulators.

The role requires a Master's in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years' experience, including 5+ years in renewables.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Electrical Project Engineer to spearhead critical projects. This is a fully remote opportunity, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while driving significant impact in the renewable energy sector. You will be responsible for the end-to-end electrical engineering aspects of renewable energy integration projects, from concept and design through to commissioning and handover. The role requires exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of grid codes, power electronics, and project management, all applied within a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage).
• Develop detailed electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Perform complex power system studies, including grid interconnection studies, harmonic analysis, and transient stability.
• Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Liaise with grid operators, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project compliance and successful interconnection.
• Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for the electrical scope of work.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical project challenges.
• Ensure all designs and implementations adhere to relevant national and international standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power Systems or Renewable Energy.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy projects and grid integration.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD).
• Strong understanding of grid codes, interconnection standards, and power electronic converters for renewable energy.
• Excellent project management skills, including experience with project management software.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders remotely.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent registration is highly desirable.
