Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Lead Electrical Design Engineer to guide large-scale renewable energy projects globally. You will head electrical design teams, develop schematics, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

This fully remote role requires strong leadership, deep HV/MV expertise, and hands-on experience with power system studies and major equipment specification.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering with at least 5 in large renewable projects.
• Proven experience leading design teams and managing complex projects.
• Expertise in PSS/E, ETAP, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• HV/MV systems knowledge and grid interconnection experience.
• Strong leadership and remote-team management skills.
• PE license or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of electrical design engineers working on renewable energy projects.
• Oversee the development of comprehensive electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring details, and grounding plans.
• Conduct and review detailed power system studies, such as load flow, fault analysis, harmonic analysis, and protection coordination.
• Specify major electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, PV modules, and battery energy storage systems.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant international standards (IEC, IEEE), local codes, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, civil/structural engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
• Develop and manage technical specifications, RFPs, and bid evaluations for electrical components and construction.
• Provide expert technical guidance during the construction, commissioning, and operational phases of projects.
• Drive innovation in electrical design for renewable energy systems, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage design risks and implement quality control procedures for all electrical design deliverables.

Requirements

• Proven experience in leading engineering design teams and managing complex projects.
• Expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• In‑depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, grid interconnection requirements, and international standards.
• Experience with high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) systems.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, inverters, transformers, and protection systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for managing remote teams.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
