Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking an experienced IT Desktop Engineering Lead to oversee desktop engineering teams and coordinate large-scale deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting initiatives.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets and resources, and collaborate with management and clients to align IT strategies with business goals while ensuring security and compliance.

Key Experience and Skills:

• Extensive Technical Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of desktop systems, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), networking, and enterprise-level IT environments.
  • Expertise in advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, and supporting complex IT infrastructures.
  • In-depth understanding of IT security, data protection, and compliance protocols.
• Leadership and Team Management:
  • Leading and managing a team of desktop engineers, mentoring junior and senior team members, and providing technical guidance.
  • Coordinating the execution of IT projects, including desktop deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting initiatives.
  • Acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues and ensuring resolution.
  • Responsible for team performance, training, and resource allocation.
• Project and Stakeholder Management:
  • Overseeing large-scale projects, such as desktop rollouts, migrations, and system implementations.
  • Communicating directly with management, clients, or stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and objectives.
  • Ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
• Strategic Input and Continuous Improvement:
  • Contributing to the development of IT strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance desktop support and efficiency.

  • Managing budgets and resources for desktop support operations and ensuring systems are well-maintained and secure.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, acting as a liaison between IT teams and non-technical stakeholders.
