Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer in Cape Town to spearhead major infrastructure projects from conception through completion. You will lead design, planning, and execution, coordinating with junior engineers, technicians, and external consultants.

You will apply expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and hydraulic modeling while ensuring compliance with South African environmental laws and procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity on significant infrastructure projects.
• Expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and hydraulic modeling.
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) and relevant engineering simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation and construction procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of major civil engineering infrastructure projects from conception to completion.
• Manage project teams, including junior engineers, technicians, and external consultants, providing technical guidance and oversight.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering analyses.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Oversee the tendering process, contract administration, and construction supervision.
• Liaise effectively with government agencies, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
