Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Project Manager in Cape Town to oversee large-scale infrastructure initiatives from conception to completion. You will shape city development, lead cross-disciplinary teams, and manage multi-stakeholder engagement to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role requires 10+ years in infrastructure PM, major budget experience, and strong leadership with knowledge of SA planning and environmental legislation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in project management for large infrastructure.
• Experience managing budgets >R100 million.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Master's degree is highly desirable.
• PR.Eng. or PR.CM registration is advantageous.
• Strong negotiation, procurement and claims management experience.
• Knowledge of SA municipal planning, zoning and environmental law.
• Excellent leadership, communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6 and CAD software.
• Ability to engage diverse stakeholders including technical and non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all phases of infrastructure projects including planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Develop detailed scopes, budgets, schedules and resource plans.
• Lead and mentor project teams to foster performance and collaboration.
• Oversee contractors, consultants and third-party vendors.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Manage stakeholder engagement with government, communities and investors.
• Implement risk management to identify and mitigate project challenges.
• Conduct site inspections and progress reviews for quality and compliance.
• Prepare and present project reports to senior management and authorities.
• Champion innovative technologies and sustainable construction practices.
