Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Analytical Chemist to oversee the Quality Control laboratory in Midrand. You will lead a team, design and validate analytical methods, and drive regulatory compliance to safeguard product quality and patient safety.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field.
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical analytical development and QC with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Hands-on experience with chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and quality systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot methods and instrumentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with LIMS.
• Able to work independently and in teams.
• On-site in Midrand, Gauteng, ZA with some flexibility for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of analytical chemists in the Quality Control department.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, dissolution).
• Oversee day-to-day QC laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely analysis of samples.
• Interpret analytical data, investigate OOS results, and implement CAPAs.
• Ensure GMP, GLP, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage laboratory equipment, calibration, maintenance, and qualification.
• Prepare and review analytical reports and validation protocols.
• Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Regulatory Affairs to address QC issues.
• Contribute to process improvement and participate in audits.
