Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to strengthen our client's Quality Control team. The role focuses on developing, validating, and applying analytical methods for raw materials, in-process samples and finished products in a GLP/GMP environment.

You will lead method transfer, perform routine testing using HPLC, GC and UV-Vis, investigate OOS, maintain instruments, and mentor junior chemists in a hybrid on-site/remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, with a strong focus on Quality Control.
• Experience with HPLC/GC and method validation per ICH.

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods for pharmaceutical compounds.
• Perform routine testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
• Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, implementing CAPAs.
• Maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation.
• Prepare and review analytical method validation reports, stability protocols, and batch release documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GLP and GMP guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, and regulatory affairs.
• Train and mentor junior analytical chemists.
