Job summary

National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector seeks a Labour Relations professional to enforce collective agreements, conduct inspections, and manage compliance and enforcement activities. You will interpret agreements, issue orders, and negotiate settlements with employer representatives, leading cases through arbitration when needed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Post Matric Qualification in Labour Relations Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Law, Human Resource Management or related field.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a Labour Relations environment.
• 1-2 years’ experience in Collective Bargaining or Labour Law Enforcement an advantage.
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Promote, monitor, and enforce compliance with all Collective Agreements for companies in the Council’s registered scope.
• Interpret clauses of Collective Agreements and issue Compliance Orders to non-compliant companies.
• Calculate amounts owing to Council due to non-compliance and issue orders.
• Negotiate, draft, and sign settlement agreements with employer representatives for approval.
• Lead enforcement cases referred to arbitration and prosecute non-compliant employers.
• Conduct routine inspections and issue findings reports.
• Explain inspection reports to stakeholders to prevent future non-compliance.
• Investigate complainant cases to determine appropriate forms of investigation.
• Serve legal documents such as compliance orders, notices of arbitration, and awards.
• Attend to enquiries about the Council, its Collective Agreements, and applicable legislation.
• Provide training and information sessions to employer representatives and employees.
• Promote positive stakeholder relationships with employers and employees.
• Plan and organise daily, weekly, and monthly compliance and enforcement activities.
• Prepare weekly route plans and activity reports.
• Maintain the Council’s image and professional conduct.
• Manage cost centres and related items.
