Job summary

Hospitality Hire is seeking an entry-level AC Technician (HVAC Technician) to join the Facilities & Maintenance team at a Cape Town hotel. The role supports maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and basic installation of HVAC systems under supervision.

The position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and eagerness to learn, with onboarding and training as part of development within a hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 3 or equivalent in Refrigeration / Air Conditioning (or currently enrolled in a trade program).
• Technical or vocational training in HVAC or Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, internship, or apprenticeship program.
• Previous exposure to hospitality, healthcare, or large building facilities maintenance is an advantage.
• Must hold a valid South African ID.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems, including filters, coils, condensers, compressors, motors, thermostats, and ductwork.
• Replace and clean air filters, grills, and vents in guest rooms and public areas.
• Monitor and report unusual noise, performance issues, or potential system failures.
• Support senior technicians in fault-finding and performing minor repairs under supervision.
• Participate in scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PPM) activities and log work in OMNI or internal systems.
• Follow hotel safety and compliance procedures, especially with refrigerants, electrical systems, or in confined spaces.
• Clean and return tools after use and report damaged equipment.
• Enter guest areas only with permission or supervision and maintain professionalism.
