Job summary

Istaff Recruitment is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to maintain and repair systems across a prestigious hospitality venue in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The role requires leadership, strong diagnostics, and the ability to work across hotels and related facilities.

You will oversee maintenance activities, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards while delivering reliable climate control for guests and operations.

Qualifications

• HVAC/Refrigeration qualification or recognized trade certification.
• Senior-level experience as an HVAC Technician.
• Strong knowledge of air-conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC control systems.
• Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, service, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, split units, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation and extraction.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, inspections, and fault-finding.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs.
• Monitor system performance, temperature, airflow, and energy efficiency.
• Supervise and guide junior technicians and maintenance staff.
• Assist with HVAC installations, upgrades, refurbishments and improvement projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and manage tools, equipment and spare parts.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant HVAC/Refrigeration qualification or recognized trade certification
• Proven senior-level experience as an HVAC Technician
• Strong technical knowledge of air-conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC control systems
• Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
• Leadership and technical mentoring experience
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Hospitality, hotel, lodge, resort, or commercial facilities experience advantageous
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and emergency call-outs
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport
