Job summary

Pele Energy Group is seeking a Graduate In Training for Business Development to support market growth and project opportunities in renewable energy. You will prepare proposals, conduct market research, and help build partnerships under supervision.

Based in Sandton, this internship offers hands-on exposure to strategy, financial assessment, and cross-functional collaboration while developing professional skills for a career in energy development.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Finance is required.
• Project Management or Project Finance coursework is essential.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required.
• Strong reporting and analytical skills are expected.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools is needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical and commercial documents for client engagement including proposals, investment memoranda, project overviews, and tender documents.
• Assist in developing and implementing business development strategies to expand the company’s presence in target markets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project feasibility including technical requirements, financial considerations, and regulatory constraints.
• Conduct research on clients, thematic work, competitor and partner analyses, and geographic areas to advance the company’s mission.
• Assist in conducting due diligence on potential project opportunities including site assessments, resource evaluations, and risk analysis.
• Provide team support for engagement into specific target sectors and client demographics.
• Conduct ongoing market research, summary writing, and report writing for internal purposes and external publishing.
• Prepare business development presentations for clients, financing partners, project development partners, and technology partners.
• Provide administrative support to the Business Development Unit as required.
• Compile assessment data, conduct desk research, collect preliminary documentation, and support pre-proposal activities.
• Assist in preparing proposal calendars and update project and deadline trackers.
• Support routine and ad-hoc business development reporting and meetings.
• Ensure that client and partner documentation and contact information are organized and stored securely in line with the company’s data protection policy.
