Job summary

Eskort (Pty) Ltd is seeking an IT Support Technician to assist users, diagnose and resolve issues, and maintain POS systems across stores. You will troubleshoot PCs, laptops, printers, and network services both onsite and remotely, with travel to sites as required.

The role requires up to 3 years in IT support, a diploma or CompTIA A+, and willingness to travel beyond Gauteng. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) is required.
• Diploma or certificate in IT or related field, or CompTIA A+.
• Up to 3 years' IT support or help desk experience.
• Experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routers, switches and Wi‑Fi.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Willingness to travel to stores/sites, including outside Gauteng, and to work after hours.
• Methodical problem solver who seeks root causes.

Responsibilities

• Log, prioritise and resolve support requests on the ticketing system.
• Resolve technical issues onsite and remotely for PCs, tills, POS and printers.
• Diagnose network connectivity faults including Wi‑Fi and routers.
• Create and manage user accounts, passwords, emails and permissions.
• Escalate unresolved issues to senior staff or suppliers and close tickets.
• Travel to stores and sites to repair, install and configure equipment.
• Support store openings, relocations and roll-outs of new systems.
• Install and tidy network cabling and APs.

Key responsibilities

Support

• Log, prioritise and resolve support requests for all users on the ticketing system.
• Resolve technical problems onsite and remotely for PCs, laptops, tills and point-of-sale (POS) systems, printers, scales, barcode scanners and handhelds.
• Diagnose network, Wi-Fi, router and internet connectivity faults.
• Create and manage user accounts, passwords, email and access permissions.
• Escalate issues you cannot resolve to the senior technician, IT manager or third-party suppliers, and follow them through to closure.

• Travel to stores and other sites to repair, replace, install and configure equipment when required.
• Support store openings, relocations, refurbishments and roll‑outs of new systems.
• Install and tidy network cabling, switches and Wi‑Fi access points.

Minimum requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• A diploma or certificate in IT or a related field, or CompTIA A+ (or equivalent).
• Up to 3 years' experience in IT support or a help desk, supporting users on Windows 11 and 10 (entry-level candidates welcome).
• Experience with macOS.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routers, switches and Wi‑Fi.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory user administration.
• Valid driver's licence and your own reliable transport.
• Willingness to travel to stores and sites, including outside Gauteng, and to work after hours when needed.
• Methodical problem solver who finds the cause, not just a quick workaround.

Advantageous

• CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MD-102 or equivalent certification.
• Experience with retail POS systems, barcode and label printing, or industrial scales.
• Experience in retail, food manufacturing or another multi-site environment.
• Experience with remote‑access tools and a ticketing system.
• Basic knowledge of CCTV, VoIP phones or mobile device management.
