Job summary

Pillangó Placements in Gauteng is seeking an experienced on-site IT support specialist to resolve tickets, set up devices, and manage user access across client sites.

The role covers networks, cloud services (Microsoft 365) and light server tasks; a minimum of 5 years in MSP or multi-site environments is required, with English-Afrikaans bilingual communication.

Salary is R28k–R35k per month with company-funded certification and training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on IT support experience, ideally in an MSP or multi-site environment.
• Broad, practical knowledge across Windows desktops and servers, networking, printers and hardware.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 user and email administration.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritise sensibly and finish what you start.
• Clear, friendly communication with non-technical users.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport for client site visits.

Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

User & desktop support

• Resolve escalated support tickets across all client companies, in person, on site and remotely.
• Set up, repair and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, phones and peripherals.
• Handle new-starter and leaver processes from start to finish: accounts, devices, email and access.

Networks & infrastructure

• Maintain and troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, VPNs and internet connectivity.
• Look after on-premise servers, backups and basic virtualisation; work with our external supplier on larger server jobs.
• Keep systems patched, secure and documented.

Cloud & business systems

• Day-to-day administration of email, user accounts and cloud services (mainly Microsoft 365).
• Support business applications, file shares and access permissions.

Ownership & teamwork

• Take responsibility for a problem from first report until it is properly fixed — and follow up.
• Keep clear documentation so that anyone in the team can pick up where you left off.

REQUIREMENTS

Must have

• At least 5 years' hands-on IT support experience, idealy in an MSP or multi-site environment.
• Broad, practical knowledge across Windows desktops and servers, networking, printers and hardware.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 user and email administration.
• A proven ability to work independently, prioritise sensibly and finish what you start.
• Clear, friendly communication with non-technical users
• Bilingual in English and Afrikaans
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport for client site visits.

Nice to have

• Deeper Microsoft 365 skills: Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access, Exchange Online.
• Experience with firewalls (e.g. FortiGate, Sophos, MikroTik), backups and virtualisation (Hyper‑V, VMware).
• Exposure to CCTV, access control, VoIP or building systems.
• Scripting or automation (PowerShell or similar).
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+/N+, Microsoft, Cisco).
