Placements24 in Gauteng seeks a Lead Inventory Control Specialist to drive accuracy and efficiency across warehouse locations. The role focuses on developing procedures, analysing stock levels, and reducing discrepancies in a hybrid on-site/off-site setting at the Tembisa facility.

You will lead cycle counts, manage the IMS, track KPIs, and collaborate with procurement to align inventory with forecasts, while mentoring junior staff and promoting best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of inventory control experience.
• Proven experience leading inventory control initiatives and teams.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, techniques, and software.
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL for data analysis.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across diverse teams.
• Experience with cycle counting and physical inventory procedures.
• Hybrid work environment with on-site presence in Tembisa.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of inventory control policies and procedures across all warehouse locations.
• Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and stock audits to ensure data accuracy.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Analyse inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimise stock levels, minimising overstock and stockouts.
• Manage and maintain the inventory management system (IMS) to ensure data integrity and system efficiency.
• Develop and track key inventory performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, turnover rate, and carrying costs.
• Collaborate with the procurement and operations teams to align inventory strategies with business needs and sales forecasts.
• Train and mentor junior inventory control staff, providing guidance and support.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in inventory management.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to inventory.
