Job summary

Chainlink Recruitment is seeking a Shipping Clerk for a well-established organisation in Heidelberg, Gauteng, to manage shipping documentation, vessel tracking, containers, and cost sheets, with focus on accuracy and foreign currency handling.

The role involves liaising with overseas suppliers, couriers, freight agents, and internal stock controllers; duties include GRN processing, customs, and daily updates.

• Shipping and logistics experience (essential)
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Fluent in Afrikaans (advantageous)

Responsibilities

• Vessel tracking, update delivery dates and report delays
• Coordinate container stock preparation with suppliers
• Update supplier invoices and documentation
• Reconcile and validate supplier orders
• Complete and manage import/export paperwork
• Process and coordinate stock transfers
• Liaise with stock controllers, warehouse controllers, couriers and suppliers
• Provide updates to branches on container deliveries and transfers
• Book container loadings and coordinate logistics
• Create and capture shipping cost sheets
• Work with GRNs and ensure accurate stock receipting
• Arrange cover for shipments
• Obtain freight estimates from service providers
• Arrange courier shipments for stock, parts and samples
• Monitor delivery timelines to ensure efficiency
• Submit payment requests for shipping costs
• Submit customs documentation accurately and timely
• Work with foreign currency conversions
• Provide general assistance to the National Consumables Manager
