Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control Engineer for roles in Upington, Northern Cape. You will design, implement, and maintain automated control systems and instrumentation across industrial processes, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and safety of measurement and control loops.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated control systems and instrumentation used in industrial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and safety of measurement and control loops, contributing to operational efficiency and product quality. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of process control principles, PLCs, SCADA systems, and various types of instrumentation. Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and select appropriate instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors) for process applications.
• Develop and implement control system strategies, including PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA system configuration.
• Commissioning and calibration of new instrumentation and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control loops, and automation hardware/software.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, control narratives, and instrument data sheets.
• Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and SCADA systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, control theory, and automation technologies.
• Experience with process safety systems and SIL assessments is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in an industrial environment in Upington .
