Placements24 is seeking a Senior Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join a remote-first team serving projects across South Africa. You will design and implement advanced control architectures, select instrumentation, and drive automation strategies for efficiency and quality in industrial processes.

You will lead complex troubleshooting and develop thorough documentation while collaborating with vendors and cross-functional teams from a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 8+ years in controls and instrumentation engineering.
• Proficient with Rockwell or Siemens PLCs and HMIs.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer control systems architecture (PLC, DCS, SCADA).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer control systems architecture, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems.
• Specify and select appropriate instrumentation for process control applications.
• Develop and implement automation strategies to improve operational efficiency and product quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to controls and instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain control system documentation, including P&IDs, logic diagrams, and loop sheets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure successful project delivery in a remote setting.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in controls and instrumentation engineering . Proven expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI development.
• In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols and network security.
• Experience with process automation, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and advanced process control (APC).
• Excellent remote collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
